Organized at Pittsburg and Harrisburg and mustered in September 8, 1862. Ordered to Parktown, Maryland, September 9, and duty guarding Northern Central Railroad till December. Attached to 5th Corps, Middle Department, to December, 1862. 3rd Brigade, 1st Division, 2nd Army Corps, Army of the Potomac, to September, 1863. 1st Brigade, 1st Division, 2nd Army Corps, to May, 1865.
