FREDERICK ZORGER
was born December, 1734 probably in Germany. He is believed to be the first Zorger to emigrate to the States and it is rumored that he made his way from Leipzig, Germany to Holland where he boarded a ship as a stowaway. He died 28 May 1815 in York County, Pennsylvania.
Frederick was married twice, first to Margaretha Rathvon with whom he had Four sons - George, Matheus, Frederick Jr., and Michael.
His second wife was Maria Elizabeth ??? who died about 1827. They had eight children, Four sons - Johannes, Phillip, Jacob and Peter and Four daughters - Lidia, Ann, Barbara and Elizabeth. It is possible that Elizabeth was actually the daughter of Frederick and Margaretha.
Frederick and Margaretha are buried at Quickels Church in York County, Pennsylvania.

He was a known gunsmith and engraver. There is a brace of pistols
which he made on display at the DuPont Museum in Wilmington, Delaware.
