THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT
OF
GODFREY ARMITAGE



"In the name of God, Amen: the 22 day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand six hundred and seventy four. I, Godfrey Armitage of Boston in New England, taylor, being weak in body but of sound and perfect memory praised be God Almighty fo the same, knowing the uncertainty of this present life and being disposed to settle that outward estate the Lord hath lent me, doe make this my last will and testament in manner and form following: that is to say, First and principally I commend my soul to Almighty God my Creator hoping to receive full pardon and remission for all my sins and salvayion by Jesus Christ my Redeemer and my body to the earth to be buried in a decent manner as to my Executrix hereafter named shall be thought meet and convenient. And as touching such worldly estate as the Lord hath lent me, my will and meaning is that the same shall be imployed and bestowed as hereafter and by this my will shall be ..... "Item - I do renounce and make void all wills by me formerly made and declare and appoint this my last will and testament.

"Item - I will that all the debts that I justly owe to any manner of person or persons whatever, shall be well and truly paid or ordained to be paid in convenient time after my decease by my executix hereafter named.

"Item - I give and bequeath unto my well beloved wife Mary Armitage the full sum of twenty pounds as a token of my special love.

"Item - I give and bequeath unto my loving son Samuel Armitage the full sum of twenty pounds to be paid unto him within the bounds of three months next after the decease of my executrix hereafter named.

"Item - I give and bequeath unto my loving daughter Rebekah Tarbox the full sum of ten pounds to be paid unto her by my Executrix within three months.

"Item - I give unto my brother Joseph Armitage my shagg coat and my best felt hat.

"Item - After my just debts are paid, funeral charges and legatees are satisfied, I give and bequeath all my real and personal estate , whatsoever it is, wherever it may be found unto my said wife Mary Armitage for and during the term of her natural life and after her decease I give and bequeath tho-thirds part thereof unto my said son Samuel Armitage and his heirs and assigns forever and the other third part thereof unto my said daughter Rebekah Tarbox and her heirs forever and do hereby nominate and appoint my said wife Mary Armitage the sole Executrix of this my last will and testament.

Signed, sealed and published by Godfrey Armitage as his last will and testament in the presence of John Deacon and John Hayward, Senior.
