THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT
OF
MICHAEL ZORGER



In the name of God, amen. I Michael Zorger of Hanover Township in the County of York, State of Pennsylvania, yeoman, being weak in body but of sound disposing mind, memory and understanding thanks be to God for the same do make and publish this my last will and Testament in manner and form as follows. My will is that that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid as soon as conveniently may be after my decease.

Item

I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Christiana her choice of all my houses and kitchen furniture in sufficient quantity of bedding for her to keep house with also her cows and her hogs the choice of all that I am owner of at the time of my decease and my stove and pipe. Also one house and sufficient quantity of feed for said cows and hogs and ... ? ... as she be in need of until such time that she can be funded for out of my estate and sufficient quantity of ... ? ... that she may be in need of until such time that she can be funded for out of my estate in manner and form is which I shall hereafter direct.

Further my will is therefore I order and direct that my Executor here after appointed by me shall immediately after my decease and burial take charge of all my estate that is left after the above bequeath to my wife is taken from the same and I direct that my executor shall sell and dispose of the balance of my personal estate as soon after my decease as conveniently can be and pay my debts as far as it will ... ? ... and further it is my will that if my debts is not all paid I direct my executor to take as much of the increase of my plantation that will pay the yearly interest and taxes and to keep the fences and building in repair and the residue of my income of my plantation with the buildings thereon I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife during her lifetime and after her decease I direct and order my executor to sell all my real estate and the personal that she has left at her decease and I order my executor to pay her personal expense and my debts if there is any left and hereby I empower my executor to make a deed of conveyance to the purchaser as fully intents and purposes as I myself have done in my life time and out of the money remaining of the said plantation or premises my executor shall make and divide in six equal shares and pay the same over shear and shear alike among my children namely Simon Zorger and my daughter Martha married to John Mecimmice, Rebecca married a George Gonder, Elizabeth married to Solomn Hulten, Ester married to Emanuel Sipe and Mary and if Mary should be deceased before this money would be distributed among my children it is my will that Mary's children shall have her share and share alike. And lastly I do constitute and appoint my brother Peter Zorger of Conewago Township in the County of York my said Executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills heretofore made by me.

In witness whereby I have here unto set my hand and seal this fifteenth day of November one thousand eight hundred and forty-two.

Before me William Schalld, Deputy Register for the probate of Wills and granting of administrative in and for said County came Joseph Kilmore and John Wilson who being duly affirmed do depose and say that they were personally present and saw Michael Zorger the Testator sign his name to the foregoing instrument of writing purporting to be her last will and testament and at the time of so doing the said testator was of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge and belief and that they witnessed the same at the request of the testator and in his presence and in the presence of each other at the same time.

Memorandum: That letters testamentary in common form were granted to Peter Zorger, Esq. the executor named in the foregoing will of Michael Zorger deceased after being duly qualified according to law on the twenty-third day of July AD 1843
